A6 Honesty/Lunaria/Silver Dollar Cyanotypes
Their common name is Honesty, but you might know them by Lunaria, Silver Dollar or Silver Penny. These amazing seed pods form papery, silver white framed ovals often used in dried flower arrangements. Their translucence works brilliantly with the cyanotype technique to create abstract patterns that overlap like venn diagrams or little speech bubbles.
Media: An original cyanotype on handmade cotton rag paper created from recycled T-shirts. Please be aware that the product images are examples only, since each piece is produced individually by hand making it unique & original. The artwork you receive will be similar to, but not precisely the same, as those shown. I aim for uniformity of blue, but again, each piece will vary slightly in depth of colour. Where more than one piece is ordered I will endeavour to match the 'Prussian Blue' tone of each.
Species info: Lunaria annua, commonly called honesty or annual honesty, is a species in the cabbage and mustard family. In summer it has beautiful purple flowers.
Honesty meaning and symbolism in the language of flowers: In the language of flowers, the plant represents honesty, money, and sincerity. In folklore, the honesty plant is considered protective, being thought to keep away
