A6 Lavender cyanotype
A6 Lavender cyanotype
I grow Lavender in pots in my garden especially for creating cyanotype images (I've found them tricky to grow in the wet ground here - they like good drainage). Their sweet, simple & easily recognisable structure works well with the technique. I tie bunches together in late summer (after the flowers have begun to dry & the bees have finished with them), then dry them upside down in my house - they look & smell amazing.
Media: An original cyanotype on handmade cotton rag paper created from recycled T-shirts. Please be aware that the product images are examples only, since each piece is produced individually by hand making it unique & original. The artwork you receive will be similar to, but not precisely the same, as those shown. I aim for uniformity of blue, but again, each piece will vary slightly in depth of colour. Where more than one piece is ordered I will endeavour to match the 'Prussian Blue' tone of each.
Species info: Lavender Angustifolia Hidcote, English Lavender
Lavender meaning and symbolism in the language of flowers: Lavender flowers represent purity, devotion, serenity, grace, and calmness.
